Thank you
I was born in England but grew up in a tiny welsh village near Merthyr. My earliest memories of school are of being teased & having my life made hell because I was an outsider. I’m sure you know the drill…
Then in 2000, at the age of 11, my father, who had been an alcoholic for the over 5 years passed away.
The only thing I had in my life that made me feel alive was music, & although rock music made me feel less alone in the world, it made me feel even more isolated because not only did I know no one who shared my passion for it, but I got bullied more than ever before for being even more different.
Lostprophets changed that for me. From the moment I realised that you guys were welsh, I clung to you. You made me realise that there was a music scene here, & from yourselves I discovered FFAF, When Reason Sleeps, Covergirl & so many other amazing bands. & from that I discovered gigs, & met people who didn’t want to punch me in the face just for existing.
This is probably a weird story, I know you probably get a million Lostprophets saved my life stories a day, but I think it’s safe to say for different reasons.
I just wanted to message you, to say thank you. Thank you for making the music you do. thank you for helping me through my wreck of a childhood. Thank you for the 39 gig’s you’ve played that I had the privilege to attend. & thank you for showing me a music scene & a world I never knew existed when I needed it most.
When I was 11, you were my hero. & at 22, I can honestly say, that hasn’t changed.
Xx
